Here are three things to start our word association. The goal is to start the creative juices flowing and give us some ideas of what to represent visually. I will put some of my brainstorms below the words...
Living Water
Growing
Vibrant
Dynamic
Organism
Fullfilling
Satisifaction
Thirst/ Thirst No More
Spiritually Parched
Desert
Longing
Desire for more
Life Just Got Better
Joy
Fullfillment
Contentment
Peace

responding to brandon's logo
I really like this direction. I think Brandon and I are on a similar page in thinking that water doesn't have to be represented literally. Also i think while his version is energetic and youthful, it also retains elements of sophistication and simplicity.
...and another option
Hey Guys,
Sorry, I also have been moving and changing jobs and all sorts of stuff, but I am back! I have been enjoying whats been going on with the logos. I like the idea of simplicity. And I have enjoyed some of the more recent renditions.
One of my thoughts is that we should also try something could be done that's a little less literal. I just saw a Chip Kidd talk, and one thing he said was, "Either show an apple, or say Apple, but never do both."
So i had the thought of taking the word: H20 and applying different elements that relate to water, rather than water itself. Off the top of my head I thought of using the simplicity of the font Helvetica and just applying a texture. This is just a sketch below, but the first thought was scales of a fish (obvious biblical references), and the color of water.

new Logo Option
Hey Gang,
Sorry for the delay. I've been moving (well, packing) and other such things. A new logo option from me to follow shortly...
Stay tuned.

Sorry I have looked recently
Hey Rob,
I actually like the cirlcles. The one with h2o church in the center reminds me of the underground symbol in London. Which I think is hipe and timeless at the same time. The only objection I think Shah would have is for some reason he doesn't like to call the church h2o church he just likes to cal just h2o. Anyway good work, and I look forward to seeing what other people have to say.

are we still alive?
So the OVERWHELMING response was for option B which I found a bit odd, but ok! (its futura medium for those wondering)
I did some more work and here it is http://www.flickr.com/photos/yoitsrobj/2549939830/
(the circles are completely arbitrary)

Responding to Rob's Art
Okay, for so I couldn't login, and created my post as a comment on Robs (which is technically what it is), but now I can, so I will create a post!
I like "B" as well, but I agree that losing the background and reflection might give us more of an idea of how we can convert it to be used for more purposes. Also, what it looks like with/without the word church or the tagline. I still like "C" though. I lke the font better, and I still fear the drop of water is too literal; I find the waves a little more visually appealing (and pretty:) But I do like B. I am not as big of a fan of the others, and out of "E" still the one with the sideways drop is most appealing, but maybe because it looks less like a drop? And I don't love the font in E. :/ I am not feeling "A" as a timeless design. So overall, my contribution is pretty similar to the feedback provided by the other designers. Great job Rob, these are really great. Are you pleased with them? I am sorry that I have not gotten the chance to create any more, but I think Rob has done some great work!

Church Media Lab
I posted my concepts here http://www.flickr.com/photos/yoitsrobj/2530203318/ Feedback is coming in and I will be taking a look at it all soon. It seems B (you'll figure it out when you see it) is a popular choice.
I'll let you know what the outcome is in the end, so far, its a bit different then I thought.

The Begining
I am really excited about this project because and advertisement was the begining of my involvement in New Life Church. I saw a sign that said "revelvant, rockin', guilt-free and fun." Without that diag board I wouldn't have even heard of New Life Church. It was the part of my journey towrds God. It was an invitation to seek God, just like Hezekiah sent an invitation to all of Israel to return to God and seek him again. Hezekiah announced the return of making sacrifices at the temple and we are going to announce the return of church on the campus of OSU. We are all going to be apart of all that God does through h2o church atthe Ohio State University. Again I am excited and looking forward to seeing your designs.
